The University of North Carolina comes out of exams this weekend with a pair of games in the Smith Center. Ranked No. 2 in the nation, the UNC women welcome Coastal Carolina (6-2) to Chapel Hill; getting top-25 votes but not ranked in the AP poll, the Lady Chants are coached by Alan LeForce, a highly respected friend of UNC coach Sylvia Hatchell. ORU (located in Tulsa, not too far away from Poplar Bluff, Mo.,) is coached by Scott Sutton, younger brother of Eddie Sutton, and he has been compared to Eddie Sutton protege Bill Self, now at Kansas. The UNC men's varsity, despite the notable presence of current national player of the year Tyler Hansbrough, has been remarkably balanced in getting off to an 8-0 start; five different Tar Heels average double-figure scoring: Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, Deon Thompson, Wayne Ellington and Danny Green. (Freshman Ty Zeller was averaging 10 ppg before being injured.) By the way, the UNC men's junior varsity, off to a 5-0 start, has a long break for exams and holidays. And they've earned a rest. They've outscored their five opponents by an average of 105-63. The JV Tar Heels aren't sceduled to play again until Jan. 17 against Methodist.
